Mile 1

The Southern Terminus of the Timm's Hill Trail is in the Rusch Preserve on Hwy C in Taylor County, where the trail connects with the Ice Age Trail and the Rib Lake Nordic Ski Trails.  The Rusch Preserve features:

  • Two off-road parking lots
  • Mile Post Zero
  • Picnic tables
  • Interpretive signs that explain the glacial geography and logging history of the area
  • Three rustic camp sites in the Stille Nacht Campground
  • Klostermann Creek Bridge
  • Historic site of Camp 6, a logging camp operated by the Rib Lake Lumber Company around 1905

The first half mile of the trail is also part of the "Beginner Blue Ski Loop" on the Rib Lake Nordic Ski Trails.  The trail then turns off the "Blue Loop" and heads north, crosses Rustic Road #1 and follows the Old Tote Road to Mile Post #1.
